The Challenge
InnerCamp is an international breathwork and wellness platform offering online courses, practitioner training programmes, and digital resources to a global audience. By the time they engaged Mettevo, the platform was growing — and the original website was beginning to show the strain.
The core technical challenge of wellness ecommerce website design at scale is scalability without performance degradation. As course catalogues grow, user accounts accumulate, and transaction volumes increase, platforms built on inadequate architecture begin to slow, break under load, or require expensive developer intervention for routine updates.
Beyond the technical dimension, InnerCamp's brand demanded a specific emotional register: the website needed to communicate the depth and credibility of the breathwork practice while remaining warm, accessible, and inspiring — not clinical or corporate. In wellness, how a website makes you feel is part of the product.
The Strategy
- Scalable WordPress + WooCommerce architecture rebuilt from the ground up to handle increasing course inventory, subscription products, practitioner training programmes, and digital downloads without performance impact as the catalogue grows
- WooCommerce Subscriptions integration for recurring membership and training programme access — giving InnerCamp a reliable recurring revenue stream while giving members a seamless, always-available course environment
- Immersive wellness UX design — developed a visual language using considered typography, breathing-inspired spacing, and photography direction that communicates the quality of the InnerCamp experience before a user reads a single course description
- Mobile-first course browsing and checkout — designed every step of the user journey for smartphone-first interaction, recognising that wellness content is overwhelmingly consumed and purchased on mobile devices
- Course discovery architecture — structured the catalogue with filtering by topic, level, duration, and format, making it intuitive for a first-time visitor to find the right programme and for returning members to discover new content
- Performance and reliability optimisation — implemented caching, image optimisation, and CDN delivery to ensure consistent fast load times even during high-traffic periods around new course launches
The Results
Why this matters
Wellness brands occupy a specific trust position: users are often investing in significant personal transformation, not a disposable product purchase. The wellness brand website development approach must reflect that — every detail of the design, from the font choice to the checkout confirmation email, either reinforces or undermines the perceived quality of the experience the brand is selling.
Online course website design for wellness platforms must solve two problems simultaneously: make the experience feel premium enough to justify the investment, and make the purchase path simple enough that a motivated learner doesn't abandon it halfway through checkout. InnerCamp's platform resolves both.
The WooCommerce Subscriptions implementation was a commercially significant decision. Recurring membership revenue stabilises a wellness platform's income in a way that course-by-course purchases cannot — and it changes the relationship with users from transactional to ongoing. Structuring that architecture correctly at the platform level has compounding commercial value over time.
If you're building a wellness ecommerce website design, an online course platform, or a subscription-based training programme, InnerCamp demonstrates what a design-forward, technically rigorous approach delivers when both dimensions are prioritised equally.
